1. Bilakah waktu perkhidmatan Unit Farmasi Pesakit Luar?

What are the operating hours of the Outpatient Pharmacy Unit?

Ahad-Rabu     : 8:10 pagi - 5:10 petang

Khamis           : 8:10 pagi - 3:40 petang

Sunday-Wednesday  : 8:10 a.m. - 5:10 p.m.

Thursday                   : 8:10 a.m. - 3:40 p.m.

2. Kenapa sesetengah ubat hanya dibekalkan untuk tempoh rawatan sebulan?

Why are some medicines only supplied for a month's treatment period?

Untuk memastikan ubat tidak rosak semasa dalam simpanan pesakit selain mengurangkan kos yang ditanggung hospital pada satu-satu masa.

To preserve the condition of medicines while in patients’ possession and to reduce the costs incurred by the hospital at any given time.

 3. Kenapa beg plastik tidak dibekalkan ketika pembekalan ubat oleh farmasi?

Why are plastic bags not provided during medication dispensing at the pharmacy?

Sempena kempen ‘Say No To Plastic’, Hospital USM tidak lagi membekalkan beg plastik ketika pembekalan ubat kepada pesakit bagi mengurangkan bahan buangan berupa plastik yang tidak mudah terurai secara semula jadi

In conjunction with the 'Say No to Plastic' campaign, plastic bags are no longer provided during medication dispensing. This is to reduce plastic waste that is not readily biodegradable.

4. Kenapa farmasi mengamalkan pertukaran pen/kartrij insulin?

Why does Hospital USM Pharmacy practise insulin pen/ cartridge exchanges?

Bagi memastikan insulin yang dibekal, digunakan oleh pesakit dan mengelakkan pembaziran.

To ensure the insulin supplied is used by patients and to avoid wastage.

5. Bolehkah pesakit/waris memulangkan ubat yang tidak digunakan ke farmasi?

Can patients/ their relatives return unused medications to the pharmacy?

Anda boleh pulangkan ubat yang tidak digunakan di Kaunter B, Unit Farmasi Pesakit Luar.

Yes, they can return unused medications at Counter B, Outpatient Pharmacy Unit.

6. Bagaimana pesakit/waris boleh berhubung secara bersemuka dengan Pegawai Farmasi jika mempunyai masalah berkaitan ubat?

How can patients/ their relatives communicate face-to-face with pharmacists if they have medication-related problems?

Anda boleh berhubung dengan Pegawai Farmasi di Kaunter B, Unit Farmasi Pesakit Luar.

They can ask to consult with any of the pharmacists at Counter B of the Outpatient Pharmacy Unit.

7. Apakah itu Farmasi Non-Formulari (NF)?

What is Farmasi Non-Formulari (NF)?

Farmasi NF ialah farmasi khusus yang membekalkan ubat-ubatan non-formulari /bukan standard (ubat yang tiada dalam senarai standard Hospital USM) dengan harga yang lebih kompetitif berbanding harga di kedai-kedai Farmasi. Lokasi farmasi ini yang terletak di dalam kawasan Hospital USM memudahkan dan menjimatkan masa pesakit bagi mendapatkan bekalan ubat tersebut.

Farmasi NF is a specialised pharmacy that supplies non-formulary/ non-standard medicines (medicines that are not in the standard list of Hospital USM Formulary) at a more competitive price compared to the prices in community pharmacies. The location of this pharmacy, which is located within the Hospital USM compound, makes it convenient and time-saving for patients to purchase their prescribed medicines.

8. Bagaimanakah caranya jika saya ingin mendapatkan ubat daripada Farmasi NF?

How can medicines from Farmasi NF be obtained?

Anda memerlukan preskripsi ubat yang sah dari Hospital USM untuk membuat pembelian ubat di Farmasi Non-Formulari yang beroperasi pada waktu berikut:

Ahad-Rabu   : 8:10 pagi - 5:10 petang

Khamis         : 8:10 pagi - 3:40 petang

A valid drug prescription from Hospital USM is required before you can make a purchase at the Farmasi NF. Its operating hours are as follows:

Sunday-Wednesday: 8:10 a.m. - 5:10 p.m.

Thursday                  : 8:10 a.m. - 3:40 p.m.

9. Apakah perkhidmatan yang disediakan oleh Unit Farmasi Pesakit Luar bagi pesakit/waris yang tidak dapat datang untuk mengambil ubat di farmasi?

What services does the Outpatient Pharmacy Unit provide for patients/ family members who are unable to get their medicines at the pharmacy?

Antara Perkhidmatan Tambah Nilai Farmasi yang diperkenalkan pihak farmasi ialah:

  • Telefon/ Whatsapp dan Ambil
  • Serah kad/Slip Ubat dan Ambil
  • Pos Ubat Anda
  • Hantar Ubat Anda Melalui Aplikasi Telefon Pintar (BungkusIT/ Grab/ MyCar/ Maxim)

Makluman: Semua perkhidmatan ini ditawarkan kepada pesakit yang mematuhi kriteria yang ditetapkan oleh pihak farmasi. Semua pesanan yang diterima sebelum jam 1.00 tengah hari sahaja yang akan diproses pada hari yang sama. Sila rujuk pautan berikut untuk maklumat lanjut:

10. Apakah perkara-perkara penting yang perlu saya ketahui mengenai penghantaran ubat Farmasi Hospital USM melalui perkhidmatan Pos Ubat Anda (melalui Pos Laju Malaysia)?

What essential things must I know about Hospital USM Pharmacy drug delivery through the Pos Ubat Anda (Post Your Medications) service (via Pos Laju Malaysia)?

  • Bayar caj penghantaran secara tunai kepada posmen semasa menerima bungkusan ubat.
  • Ubat dalam bentuk cecair dan ubat yang memerlukan penyimpanan khusus (contohnya: insulin) tidak boleh dipos.
  • Pay the delivery charge in cash to the postman when receiving the medicine package.
  • Medicines in liquid form and medicines that require special storage (i.e.: insulin) will not be posted. 

11. Apakah itu ubat Inovator?

What is an innovator drug?

Ubat inovator ialah ubat yang dicipta kali pertama, mengandungi bahan aktif tertentu dan menerima kelulusan untuk digunakan. Lazimnya ubat dihasilkan setelah dikenal pasti tahap kualiti, keselamatan dan keberkesanannya untuk digunakan. Apabila sesuatu ubat baharu pertama kali dibangunkan, ia akan dipatenkan oleh syarikat yang mencipta ubat tersebut dan kebanyakan paten ini dilindungi sehingga 20 tahun. Sepanjang tempoh paten tersebut, syarikat lain tidak dibenarkan membuat ubat yang sama sehinggalah tempoh paten tamat.

An innovator drug is the first drug created containing its specific active ingredients to receive approval for use. It is usually the product for which efficacy, safety and quality have been fully established. When a new drug is first made, a drug patent will usually be acquired by the founding company. Most drug patents are protected for up to 20 years. During the patent period, other companies cannot make or sell the same drug until the patent expires.

12. Betulkah ubat generik itu ubat tiruan?

Is it true that generic drugs are counterfeit drugs?

Bukan. Ubat generik bukan ubat tiruan. Ubat generik ialah ubat yang mengandungi bahan aktif yang sama dengan ubat inovator. Bahan aktif merupakan bahan kimia yang memberikan kesan pengubatan dalam sesuatu jenis ubat. Dalam erti kata lain, kesan ubat generik adalah sama seperti ubat inovator. Ubat generik dihasilkan setelah paten sesuatu ubat inovator tamat.

No, generic drugs are not counterfeit drugs. Generic drugs are made of the same active ingredients as their innovator drugs. An active ingredient is the chemical contained inside a drug that makes it work. In other words, the effects of generic drugs are the same as those of their innovator counterparts. Other companies can manufacture generic drugs when the patents expire.

13. Bolehkah ubat tradisional diambil bersama-sama dengan ubat yang dibekalkan di hospital?

Is it possible to take traditional medicines together with the medicines supplied in the hospital?

Anda dinasihatkan untuk berunding dengan doktor atau ahli farmasi anda tentang kemungkinan interaksi ubat tradisional dengan ubat yang dibekalkan di hospital bagi mengelakkan terjadinya kesan yang tidak diingini.

It is advisable to consult with your doctor or pharmacist about the potential interactions of traditional medicines with those supplied in the hospital to avoid the occurrence of undesirable effects.

14. Jika ubat saya habis atau janji temu ubat jatuh pada hari cuti, apa yang saya boleh lakukan?

If my medicine runs out or if the appointment to renew my medicine prescription falls on a public holiday, what should I do?

Jika ubat anda habis, anda boleh ke klinik atau jabatan kecemasan hospital yang berdekatan bagi mendapatkan preskripsi yang baharu.

Jika janji temu  ubat anda jatuh pada hari cuti, anda boleh datang paling awal 7 hari sebelum tarikh janji temu anda atau anda boleh datang pada hari bekerja berikutnya sekiranya ubat masih berbaki.

If your medicine runs out, you can go to a nearby clinic or to the hospital emergency department to get a new prescription.

If the appointment to renew your medicine prescription falls on a public holiday, you can come as early as 7 days before your appointment date. However, if you still have some medications left, you can fulfil your medicine prescription on the next working day.
